Revelation: The Most Important Aspect

Hello, everybody, hope your day is going fantastic! Before I start yapping about a topic again, I just want to take a moment here and say something very important. To all of those that have taken time to read all of my posts about families, I wanted to thank you. It means a lot to me that you find my posts meaningful in some capacity to take time to read them. I made this blog to yap about families because of how essential they are to me, and my hope is that someone will find something I said helpful.

Speaking of helpful, I wanted to talk about something a little different today; in this post I'm going to tackle an aspect of marriage that I haven't really dived into on my blog, yet. This aspect has been on my mind lately, and it's honestly a shame I haven't talked about it sooner as, in my opinion, it is the most important aspect of marriage.

To start off, as I've mentioned before in the past in my posts, I'm a proud member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints! Today I want to talk about a principle that I believe heavily in that I've learned from being a member: receiving revelation. This skill is so important for a marriage, but before we jump into this deeper, let's first figure out what revelation is. According to the glorious internet, the definition of revelation is the surprising, dramatic disclosure of something previously secret, unknown, or hidden. It refers to the act of revealing information or the surprising fact itself. To summarize, revelation is the revealing of something otherwise would not have been known.

Now let's tie this definition of revelation into a religious context. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ hold the belief that everyone person is a unique, literal child of God; anyone has the ability to have a personal connection with Him through their effort, and in turn we can communicate with Him. This is how I personally receive revelations about things hidden or unknown; I talk and counsel with God, and he reveals things to me that I need to know to go about making the right decision.

Receiving revelation from God is such a wonderful thing, and can save you from so much heartache. The best way I can describe the ability to receive revelation from God is like having a compass that points in the direction you need to go. The reason I'm talking about this today is that I believe there is no part in life where receiving revelation is more critical than in a marriage. As a married couple, there are many adjustments, choices, responsibilities, and demands that are required. All of these things can be very stressful on a married couple, especially in the early stages of marriage; this is why, as I've stated in the past, studies have shown that marriages have the highest chance of failure in the first few months of marriage.

However, when a couple knows and is proficient in receiving revelations, these burdens are greatly lifted. The truth is that God knows us better than we know ourselves, as well as the path that leads us to the best form of happiness. I've heard somewhere from a very wise man that "God is in relentless pursuit of you," and wants to do all He can for all of us. When we learn how to go to Him for help in making decisions, whether they be financial, work, or location-based, He will lead us on the right path.

That's all from me today! Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
